Dialogues At The End Of The Search
"All Is God's Will" (Chapter 19)
Wayne: When we hear the statement, “God's will,” we automatically think of God and his will. We think that way because that is the way the mind has been trained to think. But there is no such thing as God and God's will, because that implies separation. In other words this is an example of humankind making a god in a human image. Just because we think there is a Wayne/EM, and that we have a will, along with other attributes like a sense of humor, anger, arms, legs, determination, etc. (all qualities or attributes that we can turn on and off), we assign the same qualities to God.
But think for a moment; if God had a will, wouldn't that mean that God had a mind too? If God has/had a mind, wouldn't that imply space and time? In other words, we could ask, “What would God need a will for? What would God need a mind for?”Only egos need minds. God does not need a will. Why would God need to think and about what? God has no needs. There is no supreme entity thinking what it should and shouldn’t do; if there were something that this entity shouldn’t do, wouldn’t that imply good and bad? You see if we go down this road, then God just becomes another judging character like you and me. God’s will is God. What you see all around you is the result of God’s Will. Truth and God’s will are the same. God’s Will Is.
“God's will” is a concept thought up by misguided religionists centuries ago.
EM: I read the following in the tidbits section: All is God's Will. Nothing you do is a result of your will because your will is a fiction. You have no will. The grand illusion is that you have a will and can do what you please. You can begin to perceive this illusion when you try to not do what you do...Although “I – of myself” have come to the same conclusion, I feel some great conflicts (fear!) in accepting this; does this mean that nobody is responsible for anything?
Wayne: In order for someone to be responsible there must be a someone, right? :)
EM: Not even terrorists? Is this all just God's will? And if all is just God's will, why should I get angry about something? Or is this response also just God's will?
Wayne: Yes, everything you write or think is God's Will; you can't do anything about it because there really isno you.
EM: So everybody (apparently!) can do how it pleases him or her to do, as it is God's will anyway?
Wayne: This is where EM (Ego-Mind) has fun and survives. You are mixing up two concepts. First you say that everyone can do as they please because it is all God's Will, but this is false reasoning. If it is all God's Will (which it is), then how can anyone “do as they please”? :)) But you are correct inputting “apparently” in parentheses because it does seem that we can do as we please; but if it is all God's Will, then you can see that it is impossible.
EM: So “we” really cannot choose our decisions? Nothing? So this world, with all its “problems” and “injustices,” isn't “our” creation, but God's? There is nothing that we can “do” about? All that is done is done THROUGH us by Consciousness, somehow quite in spite of us?
Wayne: You're on the right track now; just see that you are God and it all sorts itself out. Of course as EM, you cannot see this and you are very afraid of this, because if you are God, then who are you? :))
EM: If this is so then all of what this “I/EM” is experiencing is perfect and it is all only the Expression of Consciousness?
Wayne: Yes.
EM: And, it is perfect, not because this gives opportunities for growth, but just because it is the way it is? Nothing to do? Nothing to change?
Wayne: Exactly. You are doing very well for a new person EM. If I didn't know better I would say I Know you. ;)
EM: What would I like to change? I would like - REALLY like! Feeling a sensation of joy and delight to be in what is called life! GRATITUDE!!! Feeling that this world is a safe place! That I am safe!! - But most of all, I would like to feel LOVE -I mean: REAL Love!!!
Wayne: Yes and there's no reason to not feel this way, because I am not lying to you.
EM: I would like to feel life as an “amusement park,” and not as if nearly every day has to do with how to survive! I would like to be able to change the way I see life – and others and myself. No chance? Except Consciousness chooses to have a different experience through what I call “me?” Is there really nothing I can do?!!
Wayne: Yes, it is as it is. You get to be you, I get to be a Wayne, the hijackers get to be hijackers, the Pope gets to be the Pope, Hitler gets to be Hitler and Barbara Streisand gets to be Barbara Streisand. :))
EM: Of course, I already have this experience - that in spite of all my efforts, things remains in their essence the same; the same old (and new!) fears, the same difficulties to live together with others (intolerance, envy, wrath), only more information that make things even worse!
Wayne: They make things worse, because you say so. :)
EM: So it is that I become day to day lonelier and more afraid of life - is this just how things are meant to be? Exactly so? Nothing to do? It's all God's will?
Wayne: Yes. Thank God, you didn't do anything. :)) That calls for a beer! :)))
EM: Not that life would have me treated badly - no. After all, it isn't Life at all – but “me.” I am the one who can't find joy in this. So, is THIS also only God's will? Is there nothing left to “do” but abandon to try to change things and accept what is, as it is? Something like: “Thanks also for this - what appears to me, as suffering, because I do know that in reality this isn't what it appears to be?” But it still feels to me as suffering...
Wayne: Feel about it any way you think you want to feel about it, but remember, it isn't you feeling about it anyway. It's all a game of hide and seek that you're playing and someday you find yourSelf. :)
