Dialogues At The End Of The Search
"Weeding The Garden" (Chapter 36)
Wayne: Something was said the other day that rang a little bell. It was a quote from one of the spiritual paths, to the effect that “God is in all of us.” Without commenting on this particular quote, I would like to “go back to basics” for a moment.
Mind cannot find Truth. This is why a following a path can never lead to Truth.
It cannot lead to Truth because Truth is not lost nor has it “gone” anywhere, and any searching for it is bound to be a failure. This is what the mind will not accept. Mind (which constructed truth as an opposite of a lie), can find the truth of its own construction, just as it can find the peace of its own construction. These come and go, but it cannot and never will find True Peace. But this will never be seen so long as one listens or pledges one’s allegiance to the mind and the “truth” it creates.
Just as a fish cannot find water, mind cannot find Truth/Peace. All searching is of the mind, obviously. No mind, no search. There is no searching in a graveyard where all searchers end up. Is this to say that those who do not search do not die? No, everyone dies. Does Truth/Peace die? No, it IS. Just as when the movie is over the screen does not go anywhere so when the body drops, That which contains all does not move.
Is Peace/Truth in us? Is the screen in the movie?
Humankind has been stupefied by its belief in a god it has created. The god of the mind, of the paths, is a god of ego. Many have self-doubt and attempt to use the mind to be rid of it. How can one be rid of that which it has created? One can never find release from the mind’s creations except to leave them be. You are not your mental imaginings of who you are.
To drop all paths one is on, to stand in Stillness, with no recourse to being saved by any belief system - that is the “secret” to Hearing the silence of the Heart. The silence, the Stillness that will BE long after the physical heart ceases to beat. To Realize Truth is the exact opposite of what humanity has been taught. One need do nothing at all.
For those who need a mental god that can be understood, this is bad news. Many people who hear this and who cannot extricate themselves from the mind’s hypnotic hold, will now leave this List. They are not ready to Hear the Heart yet. But for those who Hear, not only what Wayne has said, but what many others here have said, the Realization of True Peace is becoming brighter and brighter even in the midst of noise and stress, which we Know do not affect Peace.
We need no “beautiful truths” such as “We are one,” or “God is within” sometimes these so- called beautiful truths are beautiful lies. You were born empty of concept, and as you grew you were filled up with concepts. For many, these last years, regardless of your present age, can be ones of emptying out all the “weighted concepts,” that make you slow down and think, as opposed to flying free owned by nothing at all.
The following is written for those of you who are new or are looking in on us: We have nothing to offer you here. We have no lessons to learn, no practices to follow, no path to obey. If you need these things you have come to the wrong address. On the other hand, if you just want to rest from your search, we offer good company, and we will try not to quote much to you or tell you what Jesus/Buddha “really meant to say.” :))
Wayne, weeding in the garden...
EM: It seems that more and more people are looking for answers. The people that you attract are attracted for a reason. I do believe the list will be “self-weeding” in as much some will stay and some will leave.
Wayne: If people are looking for answers then they won't find them here. People looking for answers or debate will “self-weed,” as you say.
EM: I'm not sure you can control the amount of people that show up without closing the list and starting over.
Wayne: I'm not attempting to control anything.
EM: Yes, they are. You and I are not really here. All popular spiritual literature seems to point to this. Your beliefs are so numerous that you are not even aware of the majority of it. Everything I see is “real,” and for me to convince myself that it isn't, would remove all that I currently see in my world. I think that as long as we can look at a tree and agree on it being a tree, we will always remained “trapped” in the reality we currently think we inhabit.
Wayne: Okay.
EM: Very true there is no path; there is no reality, there is nothing. But everything I know I have been taught. The only thing that is there under all of it is the feeling that I am in effect here but not. Nothing I do and nothing I think in the long run is of importance. I am not of this existence, but I am. I am blind and like a blind man, I can sense something on the edge of my “vision,” but can't quite grasp it.
Wayne: Okay.
EM: Exactly. If you “became aware,” theoretically all of this would disappear and what would replace it? Can I live in a “void”? Is that what I really am? Everything and everyone I “love” would no longer be there. My “mind” cannot envision what would be there if this wasn't. I can only imagine an endless nothingness and this is not acceptable to me, at least at present.
Wayne: Okay, and if what you see is not acceptable you, will begin the search. If this is what you are doing, this is not the place for you. This place is about surrender.
EM: No, I am everything.
Wayne: Okay, if you believe this what are you searching for?
EM: In reading the posts daily, it seems that people are turning to you for answers instead of ACIM or The Bible or Confucius or Buddha or whoever.
Wayne: Okay.
EM: You have taken the role of teacher, even though you keep saying there is nothing to learn and nowhere to go.
Wayne: Yes, this is what I teach. :)
EM: Simply because we are all still here, inter-reacting, we are on a “path” or a “search” or whatever word you want to put in here. If we had reached the end of the “path” we would not be in this space.
Wayne: So long as you think there is some other “space” you will search.
EM: There would be nothing to teach, nothing to explain, nothing to react to, nothing, nothing, and nothing.
Wayne: Right. There is nothing to teach, nothing to explain, nothing, nothing, nothing.
EM: If you are at the end of your search, why are you here? Wayne, why are you here if you are at the end of your search?
Wayne: Where else would I be?
EM: There is “no” difference to a brand new spiritual seeker who has just asked “there must be a better way,” to those of us here on this list, except the dreaded enemy “ego.” We all think we have arrived at the end of our search. Ergo, I mean ego, we are better than the beginner.
Wayne: Okay.
EM: The part that I am not sure of is: To obtain Self Realization, it has to be done in little steps, “Holy Instants.” Holy Instants are when you experience God. During this period, which can be a split second or many hours, you are only aware of God: the body/ego is no longer in your awareness. This state shows you that you cannot be in two places at once, and your choice is clear: which one do you choose? You can choose to take the “Quantum Leap” and be there (or actually “here”), you probably already have and just don't know it yet, as time is not linear, but that is a whole another discussion. You can and usually are in more than one place at once. You occupy several realities at the same time. You occupy the reality that you think you see, you occupy the reality that is your thoughts, you occupy the reality that is someone else's thoughts, and on and on and on.
Wayne: If you are “not sure” of this and leave it alone, then there is hope you may see something. If you are not sure of it and are determined to be sure of it, you will begin the search and never see it.
EM: The fact that your words convey an emotional level in your dealing with EM suggests that the observations bother you (but maybe not :))
Wayne: I am not bothered by anything in spite of the way it may look to you. :)
EM: They are just that, observations, just as these are mine, and your morning musings are yours, nothing more, but certainly nothing less.
Wayne: Yes. However, the difference in this List and some others is that we are not here to debate beliefs. This is about the end of the search, not how to bolster belief systems. If one desires to argue beliefs, one will find satisfaction on spiritual Lists.
EM: I continue on with the List because it entertains me and because it can be thought provoking. I like thought provoking.
Wayne: Yes, thought “provoking” is nice; thought defending is exhausting.
EM: Again, it is like entertainment to me. When something else makes better sense to me, I will drop my current conflicting belief in favor of the new “better fit.” Until then, thanks for the List, thanks for the thoughts, and thanks for the contact.
Wayne: Okay.
EM: There may not be anything else, but if I find something, I will let you know :)!!
Wayne: Enjoy the search.
EM: Give up on whether or not someone likes it or gets “mad” over it.
Wayne: There's nothing to give up except the belief that there is. This is what this List is about also.
All is well.
